During a Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 inspection various portions of the chimney structure and connecting elements are inspected both from the interior and exterior of the building:
In a Level 1 Inspection, portions of the chimney (flue liner, connectors, interior walls, joints and chimney crown) that do not require any tools to access, operate, maintain, or repair are inspected from the interior and exterior, and areas of the appliance and connection to the chimney are inspected (i.e opening a panel) using common tools without any damage done. This is also conducted from the roof, interior and exterior, to catch any places that may not be visible from the ground.
In a Level 2 Inspection, a Level 1 Inspection is performed, along with the interior and exterior of the chimney that require basic tools to access, the attic, and crawl space(s). The interior of the chimney is also examined from the roof and the basement. A video scanning of the interior will be performed and no damage or permanent removal will be done to the chimney or building.
In a Level 3 Inspection, a Level 2 and Level 1 Inspection is included. Portions of the chimney (i.e interior walls, chimney crown) or the building are removed where necessary to gain access to normally inaccessible portions of the chimney that are suspected of damage.
